Laboratories - Computer Aided Engineering

Overview

Administered by Information Technology Group

The Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Laboratory is a resource shared by a number of Programs within the College of Engineering at Florida Tech. The Information Technology Group administers the Laboratory. It is comprised of thirty-two NT Workstations arranged in clusters of four workstations each. There are two instructor stations, two electronic white-boards and two projection screens. The clusters are ideally suited for in-class cooperative learning projects and student team interaction. The lab can be partitioned into two rooms with sixteen workstations (four clusters) each when necessary to accommodate smaller classes. The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Programs make extensive use of the Laboratory. Courses utilizing this laboratory include the following: (1) Introduction to Mechanical Engineering 1 and 2; (2) Solids Modeling and 3-D Mechanical Design Principles; (3) Computer-Aided Engineering; (4) Mechanical Engineering Design 1 and 2; (5) Aerospace Practicum; (6) Aerospace Fundamentals; (7) Aerospace Engineering 1 and 2. There are other elective MAE courses that also utilize the CAE Laboratory, e.g., Mechatronics, Instrumentation Systems.
